New WWI drama coming from Denmark

A new World War I drama called In Love and War, directed by Kasper Torsting (pictured)is being produced by Fridthjof Film.

The film tells the story of Danish soldier Esben who comes back home to his wife Kristine and son after two years on the battlefield. His son doesn’t remember him and Gebhardt, a German officer, has become an intimate member of the family. Gebhardt gets rid of Esben by sending him to the front again. But Esben flees and ends up hiding in his own attic. He slowly witnesses the German officer take his place in his own family and faces the dilemma of how far one can go in love and war.

Love and War will be co-produced by Studio Hamburg in Germany and is loosely based on the novel Knacker by Karsten Skov. The film is expected to get the final green light in September.
