New trailer released for ‘Sonja – The White Swan’

A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Norwegian film Sonja: The White Swan.

The film is a biopic about Sonja Hennie, one of the world’s greatest athletes and the inventor of modern figure skating. In 1936, she went to Hollywood to become a movie star, and her first film breaks the box office by selling the most tickets in the world in 1937. She becomes one of the richest women in her time and is loved by all, but as she grows older the spotlight fades. It all collapses when she falls, drunk on slushy ice, in Rio de Janeiro.

Sonja: The White Swan is directed by Anne Sewitsky and stars Ine Marie Wilmann. The two previously collaborated on Homesick (2015).

The Norwegian release date is set for the 25th of December 2018 – no international release date has been announced.
