New television series about Oslo’s underworld in production

Oslo’s criminal underworld will form the basis of a new Norwegian television series titled Rekyl, which will be released on Norway’s TV3 in 2018.

Inspired by true events, Rekyl follows a gang of criminals who believe the police took off with the money and drugs from a raid. When Robin is released from prison, he tries to become a law-abiding citizen, but the murder of his brother hangs over him and he decides to prove the police are corrupt, get the money back, and clear a massive debt owed to a deadly syndicate.

The series is inspired by the 2004 NOKAS robbery, which was also the subject of a film (titled Nokas [+]), and the 2013 Cappelen money laundering case.

Rekyl stars Odin Waage [+] as Robin. The cast also includes Silje Torp [+], Petronella Barker [+], Inga Ibsdottir Lillaas, Jesper Malm [+], Duc Mai-The and Kyrre Hellum.
