New Swedish television series THE DYING DETECTIVE to premiere in January

The new Swedish television series The Dying Detective (Den döende detektiven in Swedish) [+] is set to premiere on SVT [+] in January next year.

The series is based on a novel by the famed Swedish crime author Leif GW Persson [+]. The novel holds the same name and tells the story of the retired Chief of the National Crime Police and Swedish Security Service, Lars Martin Johansson. Recently having suffered a stroke, Johansson has a dangerously high blood pressure and his heart could possibly fail at any moment. While in hospital, a neurologist conveniently tells him about the rape and murder of a 9-year-old girl 25 years early, and Johansson immediately becomes invested in the case. Johansson is determined to solve the case, even if it has to be from his deathbed.

Scandi favourite Rolf Lassgård [+] stars as Johansson, and other major actors include Helena af Sandeberg [+], Alexej Manvelov [+] and Henrik Norlén [+].

The Dying Detective will premiere on Swedish television on the 3rd of January, two days after the premiere of the final season of The Bridge [+]. So far there is no mention of an international release, but we are sure it will come!
