New Swedish Horror Series Announced

A new Swedish horror thriller series called Cryptid has been announced, with Sweden’s Dramacorp coming on board.

The series will take place in a high school located in a Northern Scandinavian village and is set in the aftermath of the horrific murder of a student. The crime reveals the presence of strange creatures lurking in the nearby lake. It is inspired by the mythological creatures from outer space as depicted in H.P. Lovecraft’s Works.

The series is being directed by Daniel Di Grado, who previously directed Alena (pictured) based on Kim W. Andersson’s award-winning comic. He also directed an episode of Jordskott. It is being written by French/Belgian comic book writer Sylvain Runberg, who adapted Stieg Larsson’s Millennium series into popular graphic novels.

No release date or cast has been announced for the series.
