The Finnish crime series Bordertown has now been released on Netflix UK.
Bordertown tells the story of Detective Inspector Kari Sorjonen, who is one of the most respected officers at the National Bureau of Investigation in Finland. When his wife survives brain cancer, Sorjonen moves his family to a small town near the border of Russia. Sorjonen is (in true Nordic Noir fashion) thrown into a major crime with threats turning up on his doorstep.
The setting of the series is in Karelia, which was hotly contested during the Winter War of 1939 between the Finns and the Russians, and the series is connected to that.
