New Norwegian comedy-drama series in production

The creators of the popular Norwegian series Dag are currently collaborating on a new Norwegian series.

Dag writer/director Øystein Karlsen is collaborating with co-writer Kristopher Schau, actors Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Tuva Novotny and producer Anders Tanger for a series that tells of the home delivery service ‘The Green Jersey’, that acts as a cover up for drug dealing. Over the years, The Green Jersey staff have established a devoted customer base and no other service can deliver high-end cocaine faster or safer. But suddenly the scrappy bike messengers are thrown into a maelstrom of violence when new aggressive players enter the drug market.

The series will reunite Pernilla August, Gisli Gardarsson and Jon Øigarden.

The pilot is due for delivery in two weeks – do you think this series should get picked up?

Meanwhile, producer Anders Tangen has been busy selling the comedy series Vikingane in Los Angeles. The series is described as a cross between Game of Thrones and Monty Python and launched in its entirety online via NRK. So far, 1.6 million viewers have watched the first episode across varying platforms. Set in 790 AD, Vikingane features a small Viking community dealing with contemporary issues, from gender equality to a power struggle and family problems. In the main roles are Kåre Conradi, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, Marian Saastad Ottesen, Nils Jørgen Kaalstad and Silje Torp. An English-language version was shot simultaneously to the Norwegian version with the Norwegian actors speaking in both languages.
