New Icelandic projects announced at the Stockfish Film Festival


Reykjavik’s Stockfish Film Festival has presented six new Icelandic films that are currently in preparation. Here’s an overview of the projects:

  • Baldvin Z, known for Life in a Fishbowl (read our interview with Baldvin Z here), is preparing a coming-of-age film called The Great Football Adventure, or Víti í Vestmannayjum in Icelandic. The film will follow a ten year old boy who takes part in a football tournament.
  • Óskar Thor Axelsson is currently working on a thriller titled I Remember You, which is based off the novel Ég Man Þig by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir.
  • A television series about a lawyer named Stella Blomkvist called Stella Blomkvist. Little is known of this series, but it is being produced by Sagafilm. 

In addition to these titles, an animation and two documentaries were also announced at the festival.

The Stockfish European Film Festival takes place in Reykjavik and focuses on the best of the best in new European cinema. The festival is currently running until the 28th of February.
