New Film to Depict the Nazi Occupation of Denmark

Pilou Asbaek in ‘A Hijacking’

Next year a film titled April 9 will debut to mark the 75th anniversary of the Nazi Occupation in Denmark. The film will follow the fighting during the invasion, which took place in Southern Jutland. The event depicted took place on the 9th of April in 1940. Nazi’s were on the way to conquer Norway and secure shipping activities in Narvik. They then launched an attack on Denmark by land, sea and air at 4:15am. A total of 40 000 German troops were deployed, and the campaign was over in six hours, making it the shortest in history. 16 Danish soldiers were killed and 23 were wounded before the Danish government and King Christian officially capitulated.

The film has been scripted by Tobias Lindholm, who recently directed A Hijacking and co-wrote The Hunt. It has been rumoured by Ekko that Pilou Asbæk will star in the film. The film will be produced by Nordisk.
