New drama by Adam Price and Søren Sveistrup sold at MIPCOM

Adam Price, known as the creator of Borgen, and Søren Sveistrup, the creator of The Killing, have teamed up for a new drama series called Below the Surface (Gidseltagningen).

This series is described as a ‘psycho-thriller’ and follows an operation to rescue fifteen hostages from a Copenhagen subway train.

The series has come to be after an idea Price and Sveistrup had, and is created and directed by Kasper Barfoed (pictured), who has recently directed Summer of 92Below the Surface stars Paprika Steen, Johannes Lassen, Sara Hjort Ditlevesen, Dar Salim, Cecilie Stenspil, Henning Jensen, Alexandre Willaume and Allan Hyde.

The eight-part series has been sold at MIPCOM by StudioCanal. It will screen on the Danish subscription channel Kanal 5/Discovery Networks Denmark in the spring of 2017. Below the Surface received a record DKK 14 million in production support from DFI’s Public Service Fund.
