Over the weekend the winners of the Berlin Film Festival were announced, and Lia Hietala’s short film My Gay Sister won a Teddy Award for Best Short.
The short film follows three girls: Majken, who has known she is a lesbian since the age of seven; Gabbi, who has just discovered she also likes girls; and Gabbi’s ten-year-old sister, Cleo. But who is Cleo in love with? Is it a boy or a girl?
Lia Hietala has previously directed the short If I Say No (2016) and is currently working on her third short film and a feature.
