‘Midnight Sun’ picked up in Russia

The widely successful Swedish/French series will continue to premiere around the world, with the next country to receive the series being Russia.

Russia’s Channel One has picked up the series for release on television.

The 8×60′ Nordic thriller is co-produced by French pay TV company Canal+, Swedish pubcaster SVT and Filmpool Nord, and produced by France’s Atlantique Productions and Scandinavia’s Nice Drama.  The show was created by Mårlind and Stein, who created The Bridge.

In the series, a series of brutal murders conceal a conspiracy within the Swedish mining town of Kiruna, located above the Arctic Circle.

The show has already been sold to broadcasters including Sky Atlantic in the UK, Hot in Israel, VRT in Belgium and the rest of the Nordics.
