Max von Sydow Among Cast for Star Wars: Episode VII

Max von Sydow

Max von Sydow, known for his regular roles in Ingmar Bergman films (amongst other things), has been cast in the upcoming Star Wars film. From IDMB:

Disney and Lucasfilm made the announcement Tuesday.

The plan is for a May 2014 start date so while a deadline wasn’t looming given how long the shoot was expected decisions needed to be made in case scheduling conflicts were to occur.

In a recent earnings called, Disney chief Bob Iger said this latest installment will be set 30 years after 1983′s “Return of the Jedi” and will feature new and familiar faces.

Abrams and his producing partner Bryan Burk are producing through their Bad Robot banner with Kathleen Kennedy exec producing for Lucasfilm. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan did a recent rewrite to the script.
