Maipo Film will produce Norway’s ‘State of Happiness’

Norwegian production company Maipo film is set to produce the upcoming Norwegian television series titled State of Happiness.

Petter Noess, who directed the Oscar-nominated Elling is on board to direct the series. The script is written by Mette M. Bølstad, who wrote Nobel. The series is based on a concept by Siv Rejendra and Synovve Horsdal.

The series follows four young characters who come from different backgrounds and are thrown into a whirlwind of opportunity during the oil boom. The show is set in Stavanger and will take part over eight episodes, shot both in Norwegian and English.

The series will start shooting at the end of May and has been commissioned by NRK, Norway’s public broadcaster. DR Sales has boarded the series.
