Mads Mikkelsen in talks to play villain in new film

The Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to play a villain in the new post-apocalyptic thriller Chaos Walking.

The film takes place on a colony planet where almost all the women have been killed by a virus. Also, all living creatures can hear each others’ thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise. This drives many people insane (and rightfully so) until a young man (played by Tom Holland) makes a silent discovery: there is a girl (Daisy Ridley) who may be the key to unlocking the New World’s many layered secrets. Mikkelsen will be the ruthless mayor of the town, Prentisstown, who is searching for the young man he once mentored and who is a religiously minded keeper of his own secrets and is planning to expand his reach.

Chaos Walking will shoot beginning later this summer in Montreal, Canada.

The script is written by Oscar-winner Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), who worked on the script with Jamie Linden.
