Lone Scherfig receives honorary dragon at Gothenburg

This year the recipient of the Nordic Honorary Dragon Award at the Göteborg Film Festival is Danish director Lone Scherfig.

Scherfig is known for her breakthrough film, Italian for Beginners, which has gone on to become one of the quintessential Dogme95 films from the period. The film is the highest-grossing Danish film of all time, mostly due to success at the U.S. box office.

Lone Scherfig was honoured on the opening night of the festival, which was the 27th of February. The festival will also be showing some of her films, including Italian for BeginnersThe Riot Club, and her latest film, the British-made Their Finest.

Our interview with Lone Scherfig will be published in the March issue of Cinema Scandinavia, due for release on the 24th of February.
