Lisbeth Salander is back on the big screen, though not as we know her

One of the strongest and most popular heroines in Nordic literature history, Lisbeth Salander, is heading back to the big screen.

A new American film based on the fourth book in the Millennium series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, is heading into production.

Sony Pictures is producing the film and principal photography will begin in September, with release scheduled for the 5th of October 2018.

The US version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was released in 2011, and The Girl in the Spider’s Web will feature a whole new cast, including the role of the books’ linchpin Lisbeth Salander, who was played by Noomi Rapace in the original Swedish trilogy and Rooney Mara in the US film.

This book wasn’t written by Stieg Larsson but by David Lagercrantz, though the book is based on a concept from Larsson. In The Girl in the Spider’s Web, young computer hacker Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist find themselves caught in a web of spies, cybercriminals and corrupt government officials.

What do you think about this film being made?
