Life in a Fishbowl, director Baldvin Z‘s second feature film, premiered in Iceland on May 16. The film has received excellent reviews and an all-round positive reaction from the public, made especially clear on social media. 8000 people have already seen Life in a Fishbowl in cinemas, making it the most attended film in Iceland last weekend (beating blockbusterGodzilla for the 1st place).
Life in a Fishbowl tells three tales of three people who have a lasting effect on one another:
A young writer whose career is skyrocketing finds himself in a stormy marriage. He divorces his wife after the death of their daughter, shuts himself from the outside world and drinks himself to death over a twenty-year period.
A young single mom works at a nursery school and turns tricks on the side to make ends meet.
A former professional soccer player climbs up the totem pole in the world of banking while his family life crumbles beneath him.
Life in a Fishbowl is directed by Baldvin Z, who also wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Birgir Örn Steinarsson. It stars Thorsteinn Bachmann, Hera Hilmar and Thor Kristjansson.
It‘s produced by Ingvar Thórdarson and Júlíus Kemp for The Icelandic Film Company. Baldvin Z‘s first feature film, Jitters, also produced by Thórdarson and Kemp, was a big commercial and festival success following its release in 2010.
