Leo Borg, the youngest son of tennis icon Björn Borg, is set to play his father in the upcoming Swedish film Borg/McEnroe.
Leo was hired after answering a call for an audition posted on Facebook, unaware that the part was for the younger version of his father. Luckily, Leo has an interest for acting and filmmaking so it made sense to hire him to play his father.
In total, three actors will play Borg, with Sverrir Gudnason playing the main role. The film will follow the infamous Borg-McEnroe rivalry, particularly during the 1980 Wimbledon finals. Shia LaBeouf will be playing John McEnroe.
The story is written by Ronnie Sandhal, who previously wrote and directed Underdog.
Borg/McEnroe is due for release next year, and has already been pre-sold to numerous territories, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Hungary, the Baltic’s, Ireland and Italy.
