The twelve films competing in the Sydney Film Festival have been announced, and among the lineup is Martin Zandvliet’s Land of Mine (Under Sandet).

Land of Mine tells the story of a Danish Army Sergeant (Roland Moller), reeling from five years of German occupation, who takes liberties with the lives of Nazi soldiers assigned to his command in the immediate aftermath of WWII. He regards the POW’s as an expendable asset, and implements his own form of post-war payback – using them as real-life landmine detectors.

Land of Mine has had success at several film festivals already – winning at the Tokyo Film Festival, Goteborg Film Festival and Beijing Film Festival plus screening at many more.

The Sydney Film Festival takes place between the 8th and 19th of June 2016 in Sydney, Australia.
