JORDSKOTT now has a British co-producer

The incredibly popular Swedish thriller series, Jordskott, now has a British coproducer for season two.

London-based Pinewood Television has joined as coproducer, attached to eight new episodes.

The move comes after the former SVT head of drama, Christian Wikander, who oversaw Jordskott at the broadcaster, joined Pinewood last year as coproduction director. Wikander’s position at Pinewood is to devise a coproduction strategy outside the UK, working with production companies, broadcasters and OTT providers to develop, produce, and finance high end television drama.

An English-language version of Jordskott had been picked up and was set for development by Amazon, but has since been passed over.

The second season is due to premiere on Swedish television this autumn, but with a British co-producer hopefully a British release will follow closely!

Why would Amazon attempt to reinvent an already fine-tuned thriller? Thank goodness its idea of an English language version was passed over! Why not spend the money to obtain the actual existing program? Is that too easy or is Amazon too cheap? Reinventing the wheel is not considered all that creative.
