Icelandic television personality Jon Gnarr has left his position as Head of Programming at the media group 365 in order to focus more on the creative side of production.

Gnarr is famous in Iceland for at one point being the mayor of Reykjavik, as well as having written and co-written a dozen television dramas over the past two decades, including Shift and its spin-off Mr Bjarnfreðarson.

Gnarr has been involved in the upcoming series The Mayor, which is a political satire loosely based on his own real life experience as the mayor of Reykjavik between 2010 and 2014.

The series is produced by Baltasar Kormakur’s RVK Studios and is now in the post-production stage with the release date set for the 16th of October 2016.
