Internationally Acclaimed Swedish Novel ‘Quicksand’ Lands on Netflix

Netflix orderd a new thriller series based on an internationally acclaimed Swedish novel Quicksand written by Malin Persson Giolito. The rights had been sold to Felix Herngren’s FLX, and then they made a deal with the American streaming company.

Quicksand (Störst av allt originally in Swedish) is Malin Persson Giolito’s breakthrough novel that has been released in 26 countries. The book is about a school massacre taking place in a secondary grammar school in Djursholm, in one of the suburban areas of Stockholm. The main character is a teenage girl named Maja.

The production starts next year, so not so many details out there yet. However, it’s already decided that the script will be written by Camilla Alhgren, who has previously worked on The Bridge (Bron/Broen) and Gåsmamman.
