Ingmar Bergman documentary receives funding

An upcoming Ingmar Bergman documentary has received funding from Eurimages, Screen reports.

Titled Ingmar Bergman – Legacy of a Defining Genius, the documentary will take a close look at Bergman’s life and work through his closest collaborators, both in front and behind the camera, as well as a new generation of filmmakers. The documentary presents key scenes, recurring themes in his films and his life, and journeys to the places at the center of Bergman’s creative achievement and the focal points of his life such as the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, locations and landscapes from his masterpieces, and the stations from his career in Sweden, France and Germany.

Ingmar Bergman – Legacy of a Defining Genius is directed by esteemed German director Margarethe von Trotta. The film received €86 000 from Eurimages and is currently in production.

In total, The Board of Management of the Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund funded a total of 22 fiction films, 7 documentaries and 1 animation.
