Iceland’s ‘Woman at War’ wins the top prize at Filmfest Hamburg

The Icelandic film Woman at War has won the top prize at this year’s Filmfest Hambug.

Directed by Benedikt Erlingsson (Of Horses and Men), Woman at War tells the story of Halla, a woman who declares war on the aluminium industry in Reykjavik. She takes risks in her attempt to protect the highlands of Iceland, but everything changes when she discovers she finally has the opportunity to adopt a child.

Woman at War won the Art Cinema Award at Filmfest Hamburg, and the film will be released in German cinemas by Pandora Filmverleih.

We spoke with Benedikt Erlingsson when the film opened the Bergen International Film Festival, and you can read that interview here.
