Icelandic crime thriller heading to Netflix

Streaming service Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for the Icelandic crime thriller The Lava Field.

Released in 2014, this mini-series follows Reykjavik detective Helgi Marvin Runarsson. He is called out to investigate an apparent suicide case, but it turns out to be much more complex. As he follows the evidence, Helgi’s own secrets will be unearthed, and will he turn a blind eye to murder in order to save his daughters life?

The series stars Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Jar CityTrapped) and is made up of four episodes.

The Lava Field will be available via Netflix in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium, France, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. Strangely enough it’s not available in Iceland as RUV still holds the rights for repeated showings.
