Icelandic companies GunHil and Sagafilm join forces

The Icelandic animation studio GunHil is becoming a subsidary of the icelandic production company Sagafilm from 2017.

The merger follows an acquisition of all outstanding shares in GunHil by Sagafilm, with GunHil partners becoming shareholders in Sagafilm.

Set up more than 35 years ago, Sagafilm is one of Iceland’s largest independent production groups. The company has had international success with TV shows like Press, The Court, Astridur and The Shift series. The award-winning crime drama (prequel to The Court), directed by Baldvin Z, is now available on Netflix in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

GunHil’s anticipated 3D animated feature Ploey: You Never Fly Alone will be delivered at Christmas next year. You can watch a trailer for it below.
