Iceland to have a Viking TV series

Iceland is set to get its own Viking television series title The Last Vikings (or Sturlungar in Icelandic), the Nordisk Film and TV Fund reports.

The English-language drama series is based on Einar Karason’s The Sturlunga Clan Trilogy, which is a rewriting of Iceland’s medieval Sturlunga saga.

The series is set to be produced by Truenorth, who have worked on Star Wars: The Force Awakens among other productions. In company’s first fully-produced Icelandic film, had its international debut at the Goteborg Film Festival and we reviewed it right here. The film opened in Iceland over the weekend. Next they will be producing a crime thriller called Vaidas, which is set to start filming at the end of the year.
