Game of Thrones Season 7 to be filmed in Iceland

With the announcement that the eighth season of Game of Thrones will be the last, those of us who are obsessed with the series can only believe that this means winter really must be coming. So much so they’ve selected Iceland as their wintery destination.

Next January the cast and crew of Game of Thrones will be heading to the Nordic country to film scenes for their winter storylines, and according to Vísir Icelandic company’s have already med with HBO to discuss the shoot.

Tormund GoT

The rumour circulating now is that six major characters from Game of Thrones will have their scenes filmed in Iceland. But which six characters could those be? Most likely it is going to involve the characters currently in Winterfell, including everyone’s favourite Norwegian actor, Kristofer Hivju, as Tormund.

The episodes are going to be filmed around the glacier as well as Thingvellir. The landscape will also be used in the background, including places like Grundarfjörður, Hvalfjörður in West Iceland.
