French distribution company adds more Nordic films to line-up

The French financing and distribution company About Premium Content (APC) has added another Nordic title to its line-up, the Finnish crime drama Deadwind.

Deadwind tells the story of Sofia Karppi, a detective in her 30’s who’s trying to get over her husband’s death. She discovers the body of a young woman on a construction site, an it triggers a chain of events that threaten to destroy her life again. The series is produced by Dionysos for YLE, in co-production with Tele Munchen Group and support from the Finnish Film Foundation.

APC sure does love its Nordic dramas – at MIPCOM the company launched the much-anticipated Norwegian drama thriller Valkyrien (pictured) as well as the youth-oriented Young and Promising, which has recently sold to the UK, Germany and France, with a US real in the works. Valkyrien follows Ravn, a respected physician desperately seeking a cure for his dying wife. When the hospital stops her treatment, Ravn keeps working in secret. Ravn teals up with Leif, a doomsday prepper and former patient, and the two work underground operating an illegal clinic for treating off-the-grid patients. Valkyrien is due for release in 2017. Young and Promising follows three young women: Elise, Nene and Alex. Each have their own ambitions and we follow them as they set out to achieve them. Season one has already premiered.

Next on APC’s list is a series from Sweden, with an announcement to come soon.
