Well ahead of its international premiere at the Goteborg Film Festival, refugee comedy Welcome to Norway has been pre-sold to a number of territories – meaning you can all say Welcome to Norway! in your country very soon.
The film has so far been acquired by Neue Visionen (Germany and Austria), Filmcoopi (Switzerland) and Good Films (Italy), with possibilities of other major territories including France and the UK picking it up.
The films stars Norwegian favourite Anders Baasmo Christiansen as Per Primus, the owner of a hotel in a ski resort who decides to turn his family business into a refugee reception centre in order to save it from financial ruin.
The film produced by Sigve Endresen for Motlys, with support from Nordisk Film & TV Fond, will screen both at the Nordic Film Market in Göteborg and the European Film Market in Berlin.
Emma Vestrheim is the editor-in-chief of Cinema Scandinavia. Originally from Australia, she is now based in Bergen, Norway, and attends major Nordic film festivals to conduct interviews and review new films.
