Force Majeure Wins at Seville

The Seville European Film Festival has now ended, and after eight days of screenings of the best European films, Ruben Ostlund and his Force Majeure has been awarded the Golden Giraldillo. The film, which has already won in Cannes, depicts the emotional aftermath of a Swedish family on holiday in the French Alps. According to the jury: ”it has not abandoned me’ is the motto of Seville, so there can’t be a more appropriate winner than a film that’s about the idea of abandonment, in which the perception of crisis triggers an unexpected response.’
