First look at Thomas Vinterberg’s THE COMMUNE

The first trailer for Thomas Vinterberg’s new film The Commune has been released by TrustNordisk. The Commune is the follow up film after The Hunt, which starred Mads Mikkelsen and was nominated for an Academy Award. The Commune has a star cast lead by Trine Dyrholm (The Legacy), Ulrich Tomsen (In a Better World), Fares Fares (The Department Q Trilogy) and Lars Ranthe (The Hunt) among others.

Based on a play Thomas Vinterberg wrote about his years growing up in a communal home in North Copenhagen, the film tells a story about the clash between personal desires vs. solidarity and tolerance in a commune in the 1970s. The script was co-written by Tobias Lindholm, who also co-wrote Vinterberg’s previous films Submarino (2010) and The Hunt (2012).

The Commune is produced by isse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa Entertainments19 in co-operation with Toolbox Film, co-produced by Film I Väst, Zentropa International Sweden, Topkapi Films and Zentropa International Netherlands with support from Danish Film Institute, DR, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, The Netherlands Film Fund, Swedish Film Institute, SVT and the MEDIA programme of the European Union.
