Finnish ‘Sherlock Holmes’ series coming

A new TV series will be coming to Finland, based on the popular Sherlock Holmes character.

Back in 1903 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote a short story titled ‘The Adventure of the Empty House’, where after faking his own death at the Reichenbach Falls, Sherlock Holmes travels to Scandinavia, on the run from nemesis Professor Moriarty. Under a false identity, Holmes settles in dark and cold Lapland, sparking a culture clash between the upper-class, fast-talking and eccentric Brit and the down-to-earth Nordic characters.

The series will be produced by Finnish-American company Snapper Films. Finnish writer/director/producer Juha Wuolijoki will run the ten-hour series, which will be titled Sherlock North.

The series was unveiled at the TV Drama Vision at the Gothenburg Film Festival.
