Finnish director Jesse Haaja working on a Zombie film

The Finnish director Jesse Haaja is working on a new film about zombies.

Called Furrow, the film follows Laura, a young farm girl who accidentally releases unspeakable evil lurking in the swamps and is forced to fend off an entire army of swamp-zombies, or Swombies.

The film is described as a mix between Ash Vs. Evil Dead and the Resident Evil film franchise.

Haaja is best known for bringing us Finland’s first superhero film, RendelRendel is about a man who is blinded by his desire for revenge and hatred. Even though Rendel can be considered as a super hero, he is somewhat darker than the traditional representatives of the genre. The movie takes place in the fictionalized version of a Finnish city, Mikkeli. The film was sold to over 30 countries.

Development on Furrow began eighteen months ago, and the proof of concept was filmed in Finland in February.
