Finland’s ‘Aurora’ picked up by LevelK

The upcoming Finnish film Aurora has been picked up by LevelK for international sales, Variety reports.

This romantic comedy-drama is set in the snowy Finnish region of Lapland, and follows commitment-phobe Aurora, who meets Darian, an Iranian refugee seeking asylum for him and his daughter. The two agree to help each other in a way that will change their future.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that Aurora will also be opening the Gothenburg Film Festival, the largest Nordic film festival.

Aurora is directed by Miia Tervo and stars Mimosa Willamo, Amir Escandari, Oona Airola, and Hannu-Pekke Bjorkman. The Finnish Film Foundation, Yle and Nordisk Film funded the film.

No international release date has been announced, but it will be shown at the Berlin Film Festival and the European Film Market.

LevelK’s recent acquisitions include the Dutch thriller “Vicious” directed by Dennis Bots and written by Alexandra Penrhyn Lowe, based on Mel Wallis De Vries’ bestselling novel.
