The British sitcom Threesome is set to be remade in Finland.

The original series focuses on three friends -Alice, Mitch and Richie – who return home from a night out celebrating Alice’s birthday and end up having a threesome, which results in Richie getting Alice pregnant. Instead of getting an abortion, the three friends decide to raise the baby as a trio. The series began airing on Comedy Central in the UK in October 2011 and was the first original scripted comedy commissioned by Comedy Central. In February 2012, it was confirmed that Comedy Central had renewed the show for a second series, however it never happened.

Now the Finns have picked up the series and will remake it through the Finland-based VoD and digital TV service Elisa ViihdeThe series will be produced by ITV Studios Finland.

Filming on the ten-part Finnish version will begin this month. The plot will remain close to the original series.

Pete Paavolainen, CEO of ITV Studios Finland, said: “We are extremely happy to bring this unique and bold comedy to Finland. Both the themes and the dialogue, which is fresh and modern, are very relevant to a millennial audience, and our cast of comedians – Pamela Tola, Lauri Tilkanen and Eero Ritala – are just brilliant.”
