Eurimages backs Jensen and Gaup


Danish super writer/director Anders Thomas Jensen will next month start principal photography for his first directorial project in almost ten years, titled Men and Chicken. Jensen has most recently written The Shamer’s Daughter for Kenneth Kainz, currently being shot in the Czech Republic, as well as Susanne Bier’s Oscar winning In a Better World. His new film is a black comedy about two outcast brothers who reunite with their relatives, only to be faced with a cruel truth about themselves and their family, with Danish superstar Mads Mikkelsen in the lead.

Nils Gaup has also received funding for The Last King, which will be shooting from next month. The film is set in 1206, during the Civil War, Norwegian newcomer Ravn Laneskog’s screenplay follows the two men who scape with the two year old prince Haakon Haakonsson, whom half of the kingdom is out to kill, thus changing the history of Norway.
