Denmark’s THE GUILTY selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam

The new Danish film The Guilty has been selected for the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

It will compete in the Big Screen Competition against seven other films.

Directed by Gustav MöllerThe Guilty follows alarm dispatcher and former police officer, Asger Holm, who answers an emergency call from a kidnapped woman. When the call is suddenly disconnected, the search for the woman and her kidnapper begins. With the phone as his only tool, Asger enters a race against time to save the endangered woman. But soon he realises that he is dealing with a crime that is far bigger than he first thought.

The film stars Jakob Cedergren and is experimental in the sense that the film takes place in real time in one location, a local emergency call centre.

In The Guilty, the camera stays with the protagonist Asger throughout the whole film, thereby letting the audience experience everything as he does. Through sound, the film plays with the audiences imagination and allows them to create their own images of the outside world and the escalating kidnapping.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam takes place from the 24th of January until the 4th of February.
