Danish documentary ‘Warriors From the North’ Wins at Hot Docs

The topical Danish documentary Warriors from the North (Krigerne fra nord) about young Western Muslims leaving the West to join radical terrorist groups has won the Best Mid-Length Documentary Award and its $3,000 cash prize at Toronto’s Hot Docs Film Festival that wrapped on Sunday. The jury said: “We chose this film for the way it skilfully weaves complex story lines from multiple perspectives without losing its visual poetry; ultimately delivering a shocking, immediate and personal film that transcends recent headlines.”
