George Clooney will be embarking on producing the Hollywood remake of Norwegian film Pionér (‘Pioneer’) following films like ‘Gravity’ and ‘The Monuments Men’.
Grant Heslov’s company Smokehouse Productions and Mr Clooney recently released WWII suspense film ‘The Monuments Men’.
The original Norwegian film ‘Pionér ’, produced by Oslo company Friland Produskjon, is a conspiracy thriller after real-life events. It is set in the 1980s during the Scandinavian country’s oil boom.
The film’s protagonist is a diver called Petter played by Norway’s Askel Hennie. Petter is helping lay down a pipeline in the North Sea, diving close to 400 metres (some 1312 feet) in depth. He is unaware of the impact it would have on his future health and life.
Directed by Erik Skjoldbiærg, the film also starred Wes Bentley of ‘The Hunger Games’ fame, Stephen Lang from ‘Avatar’, and Jonathan LaPaglia who starred in TV series ‘The Sopranos’.
