Cast announced for new Nordic thriller RIG 45

A new Nordic thriller titled Rig 45 about oil in the North Sea has been announced, with Per Hanefjord directing. The show is currently filming in Dublin with a premiere set for 2018.

Set two days before Christmas, Andrea is sent to Benthos Oil to investigate a fatal accident on a North Sea rig. Met by an inexplicable wall of silence from the crew, Andrea starts to suspect that something is very wrong. A hurricane then slams into Rig 45, cutting off communications from the outside world, and the crew finds themselves both battling nature and a devious killer.

The film will be in the English language, with Irish actress Catherine Walker and Scottish actor Gary Lewis starring in the film. They will be accompanied by Nordic actors Jakob Oftebro, Lisa Henni, David Dencik and Søren Malling. Additionally, Jörn Bengtsson and Iceland’s Joni Johannsson will also be in the series.

The original story is co-written by Alexander Kantsjö (Jordskott), Ola Norén (Kontoret) and Roland Ulvenius.

Rig 45 will be produced by MTG Studios and will premiere in the Nordics on Viaplay in summer 2018. ITV Studios handles world distribution.
