Cast announced for Lone Scherfig’s new film

The cast has been announced for Lone Scherfig’s new film Secrets From the Russian Tea Room, and it is largely international.

The cast includes Andrea Riseborough (The Death of Stalin), Cesar winner Tahar Rahim and Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick).

Secrets From the Russian Tea Room will follow a group of people going through the worst crises of their lives: an ER nurse who runs an eclectic therapy group; an ex-con turned manager of the titular Tea Room, and a mother looking to avoid her abusive police officer husband.

The film will shoot at the iconic Russian Tea Room in Manhattan, New York.

Lone Scherfig is an established Danish director to found her international breakthrough with the 2000 Dogme film Italian for Beginners, which is one of the most successful Danish films of all time. She has since had a successful international career, releasing Their Finest last year.

Secrets From the Russian Tea Room was also written by Scherfig. No release date has been announced.
