Cannes 2016: Baltasar Kormakur’s THE OATH on sale at Cannes


Baltasar Kormakur’s upcoming Icelandic film The Oath has been sent to the Cannes Film Festival to be shown to potential buyers.

The Icelandic director is both directing and starring in the film, which he described as ‘not like Taken, more of a psychological thriller’. The film is about a successful doctor currently on his second marriage whose daughter starts to go off course and dates a guy. The doctor tries to interfere and things go off track.

The film is being produced by Kormakur’s RVK Studios in partnership with Film4 and Germany’s ZDF Enterprises.The film is represented by XYZ Films.

Kormakur is also working on a new television series following his very successful Trapped. Titled Katla, it is set to involve Iceland’s biggest active volcano. His American film Vikings is currently in developing at Universal, the same company he collaborated with on Everest.
