BØRNING 2 defeats THE KING’S CHOICE to become this year’s biggest Norwegian opener

It seems as though just yesterday we were writing about how The King’s Choice was Norway’s biggest opening film of the year. Time sure does fly, because less than a month later the sequel to racing film Børningrightly titled Børning 2, has become the new biggest opener.

Released on the 12th of October, the film had 55,834 admissions on the first day, according to distributor SF Norge. The previous record holder (of all time) was Kon Tiki with 54,641 admissions on day one. Over the weekend Børning 2 had 118,049 admissions and went straight to number one of the top ten this year. It’s currently tallied at 212,035 admissions.

The King’s Choice is still gathering admissions, currently standing at 508,000 admissions. Børning 2 is at its heels, though.

Regardless of this race to the top, it’s good news for Anders Baasmo Christiansen, who stars in both films! We interviewed Anders not only for Welcome to Norway!, but also for The King’s Choice. The latter interview is published in our new magazine, which you can take a look at here.
