BORG/MCENROE to open the Zurich Film Festival

The latest film from Sweden, Borg/McEnroe, will open the Zurich International Film Festival this year.

The film tells the story of the famous rivalry between the tennis players Björn Borg and John McEnroe at the 1980 Wimbledon Championships, culminating in their encounter at the Men’s singles final.

The film is directed by Janus Metz Pedersen, who will attend the festival along with Sverrir Gudnason, who plays Björn Borg. Shia LaBeouf stars as the hot-headed American John McEnroe. Borg/McEnroe has been written by Ronnie Sandahl, who previously wrote/directed Underdog (2014).

Borg/McEnroe is also opening the Toronto International Film Festival on the 7th of September 2017.

The Zurich International Film Festival runs from the 28th of September until the 8th of October this year, with the full programme to be announced mid-September.
