‘Borgen’ creator Adam Price is making a Norwegian Netflix series

Adam Price, the genius creator behind hit Danish television series Borgen and Ride Upon the Storm, has announced that he is working on a television series for Netflix, and this has me pretty excited. Not only is Price behind the series, but it will also be a Norwegian TV series.

Called Ragnarok, the series will focus on the topic of climate change, and the name gives a great deal of that away. After all, Ragnarok is a Norse mythological term for a series of events, including a great battle, that result in the death of the major gods, the occurrence of natural disasters, and the submersion of the world into water.

The series will be set in a high school arena, and will unfold in a small fiction town of Edda (named after the stories of Norse Mythology) in the middle of the Norwegian countryside.

Copenhagen-based SAM Productions is producing for Netflix. Filming in Norway and Denmark will start in 2019. Ragnarok will be the first fully-commissioned Norwegian-language series for Netflix, but the streaming service has invested in other Norwegian series like the satirical hit Norsemen.

Ragnarok will be released around the world on Netflix in 2020.

Netflix is also currently producing its first Swedish original series Quicksand, which is a crime series based on a collection of novels by Malin Persson Giolito.
