Benedikt Erlingsson’s new film WOMAN AT WAR selected for Cannes Critics’ Week

The new Icelandic film Woman at War has been selected to screen at the Cannes Critics’ Week, a section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Woman at War is the second film from director Benedikt Erlingsson, who wowed audiences in 2013 with his debut Of Horses and Men, a country romance about the relationship between horses and humans in rural Iceland.

His new film is about Hella, an independent woman in her late 40s who declares war on the local aluminium industry. She’ll risk anything to protect the Icelandic highlands, until an orphan unexpectedly enters her life.

The cast includes Halldóra Geirhardsdóttir, Jóhann Sigurdarson, Davíd Thór Jónsson, Magnús Trygvason Eliassen and Ómar Gudjónsson

Cannes Critics’ Week takes place from the 9th until the 17th of May in Cannes, France.
