Benedikt Erlingsson working on new film A WOMAN AT WAR

Benedikt Erlingsson has begun shooting his next film, titled A Woman at War.

Erlingsson’s previous film Of Horses of Men (2013) won the Nordic Council Film Prize in 2014 as well as 21 other awards. It was Iceland’s entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

The film is about a single fifty-year-old woman who declares war on the heavy industry in her town. She resorts to sabotage and is willing to risk everything for her town’s nature and highlands, until a Ukrainian orphan enters her life.

The script is written by Olafur Egill Elingsson and Erlingsson, and Halldóra Geirhardsdóttir (Metalhead) is in the lead role.

The film is produced by Slot Machine in Paris as well as the Icelandic company Gulldrengurinn. Shooting commenced on the 11th of July.
