Baltasar Kormakur’s RVK Studios starts production on new crime thriller

The Icelandic production company RVK Studios is producing the feature debut of Börkur Sigþórsson.

Titled Mules, the thriller tells of a ‘high fly’ lawyer who gets caught in a spiralling lifestyle. To fix his precarious financial situation, he teams up with his brother, a petty criminal just released from prison, and the two decide to smuggle drugs into Iceland with the help of a Polish mule. But when the girl falls sick, the brothers have to figure out how they can salvage the deal.

The script is been written by Sigþórsson and the film will be produced by Baltasar Kormákur and Agnes Johansen.

Mules stars Gisli Örn Garðarsson (Prisoners, The Oath), Baltasar Breki Samper (Trapped), Polish actress Anna Próchniak (The Innocents) and Denmark’s Marjana Jankovic (Everything Will be Fine, Norskov).

The film is currently shooting around Reykjavik and the film is due for a September 2017 release.
